Welcome to Brackensdale Spencer Academy
At Brackensdale Spencer Academy, we are committed to providing a high-quality of education for all children and a caring ethos in which each individual achieves their full potential. We teach this through our 3 values which are woven into everything that we do at school. You will hear the children and adults referring to them regularly throughout the day.
A ‘Brackensdale education’ is about developing the whole child and providing opportunities for them to flourish within and beyond the classroom. Our children are at the heart of everything we do and we pride ourselves on maintaining positive relationships with home.
We are proud of our Enhanced Resource unit, made up of the Ark (EYFS and KS1) and the Phoenix (KS2), which caters for children who require specialist provision around communication and interaction, primarily children with ASD.
In addition to being a highly valued local school, Brackensdale Spencer Academy provides a professional learning community for teachers, parents and carers. Working to provide an exemplary education for local children, we partner with local schools; community groups and other education providers under the umbrella of The Spencer Academies Trust.

There’s been lots of awe and wonder in our FS2 classrooms this week whilst celebrating #BritishScienceWeek #shinebright #aimhigh @BrackensdaleS pic.twitter.com/QUKj7gVqJg
The children had a brilliant afternoon investigating science principles including forces, chemical reactions and stored energy. My favourite part was the children all chanting "science" at the top of their voices before we exploded coke with mentos! @BrackensdaleS #aimhigh pic.twitter.com/Fcgdkj8Ezi
We have had an amazing #BritishScienceWeek2023! The children had so much fun at our science fair, we had everything from slime, lava lamps, giant bubbles and much more! It was great to see so many smiling faces! #shinebright #aimhigh pic.twitter.com/BUWNW0BhDG
Our science this half term is everyday materials. The children made a suit of armour for their banana knight out of different materials and then tested them by dropping them from a height. 🍌 @BrackensdaleS #shinebright pic.twitter.com/8QNtJTXVIc
In this week’s staff meeting, our writing lead shared a non-fiction progression document she has developed using icons to support cognitive load. @BrackensdaleS #Shinebright #Aimhigh #TeacherPD pic.twitter.com/UcxBDA0jaB
